Titled ‘We Are Not People,’ this series comprises a group of drawings that challenge conventional notions of identity and representation. By amalgamating artificially generated and distorted black-and-white images with one-line ink drawings, the artist aims to blur the lines between reality and imagination. This fusion invites viewers to question the nature of perception and selfhood.
Conceptually, the work aims to intertwine AI’s technological advancements with the human touch of drawing. By engaging with AI in image editing, printing, and transferring the subject matter, a collaborative dialogue with evolving technology is forged while humanistic qualities are infused into the process.
This work is a testament to the artist’s awareness of the duality of AI’s benefits and ethical concerns. Acknowledging the technology’s potential for harm, particularly in its non-consensual sampling of artists’ work, the artist remained conscientious of these implications. Despite these ethical considerations, this work successfully explored avenues for positive engagement within the artistic community, infusing their work with humanistic qualities and experimenting with interdisciplinary approaches.
